Terms of Service

Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use UniChat, and the details you give us must be accurate. You are responsible for everything that happens on your account.

Keep your password and PIN safe. They unlock your encryption keys, so nobody — including us — can access your messages or restore them if you lose your password. We cannot reset it on your behalf.

Acceptable use

• •Do not use UniChat for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, defraud or impersonate anyone.
• •Do not send malware, spam, or content you have no right to share.
• •Do not attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or bypass the security of the service.
• •Do not use the wallet for money laundering, sanctions evasion, or any transfer that is unlawful where you or the recipient live.

Your content

You own what you send and post. Because your messages are end-to-end encrypted, we do not moderate their contents and cannot review them. You alone are responsible for what you send and for respecting the law where you are.

Content you choose to make public, such as Moments on your profile, can be seen by others as described in the app.

The wallet and payments

Transfers are made in euro and are processed by our payment partners, Stripe and Wise. Payouts to China are delivered via WeChat Pay. These partners have their own terms, and they may require identity verification before a payment can be completed.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the recipient details you enter. A transfer sent to details you entered incorrectly may not be recoverable. Transfers may be delayed, held or declined by our payment partners for verification, compliance or fraud-prevention reasons.

Exchange rates and any fees charged by our payment partners are shown or applied at the time of the transfer. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to you.

Service availability

We work to keep UniChat available and fast, but the service is provided as is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change, suspend or add features over time.

Because your messages are encrypted with keys only you hold, we cannot restore your chat history for you. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Suspension and closing your account

You can stop using UniChat at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to do so by law or by our payment partners.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, UniChat is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or losses caused by details you entered incorrectly. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app. Continuing to use UniChat after a change means you accept the updated terms.
